Vice President - General Counsel

Overview

Legacy Community Health, a leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services, is seeking an accomplished professional for the role of Vice President - General Counsel at our Houston, TX location. This esteemed position is at the helm of our legal department, pivotal in driving the organization's risk management strategy and ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The role is integral to upholding a culture of integrity, compliance, and collaboration — essential for advancing community healthcare delivery.

In this executive leadership position, you will provide expert legal counsel to the C-suite, Board of Directors, and senior management, guiding complex legal landscapes to enhance healthcare excellence and safeguard our constituents. Your strategic direction will lead corporate governance, risk management, and safeguard our operations against potential liabilities, while promoting a cooperative team environment conducive to professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the legal department in delivering comprehensive legal oversight for Legacy Community Health.
  • Oversee enterprise risk management by establishing and maintaining policies to mitigate potential risks effectively.
  • Ensure organizational adherence to HIPAA regulations and all pertinent legal requirements.
  • Manage corporate governance, ensuring adherence to legal and ethical frameworks.
  • Direct internal audits to guarantee prudent risk assessment and effective management processes.
  • Address Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) matters and resolve complex legal issues related to employee relations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide expert legal, regulatory, and compliance counsel.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and integrity across all departments.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admittance to practice law in the state of Texas.
  • Extensive experience in a senior legal or general counsel position, preferably within the healthcare industry.
  • Strong expertise in compliance, enterprise risk management, HIPAA regulations, and corporate governance practices.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic legal guidance to executive teams and boards of directors.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of managing complex legal and regulatory challenges in a dynamic environment.
